hak00100
Soon to be new grad received my first job offer hospitalist position -$125,000, $115,000 for first 6 months training -$1,500 CME -7 on 7 off schedule so no PTO for the first year - has all the basic health insurance dental vision etc etc potential red flags… - must give 120 day notice before leaving , if not $500 per day short - if do not complete training, owe $20,000. - if leave before 1 year $15,000 - if leave before 2 years $7,500 would accepting this be screwing myself over? Brutally honest as I don’t know what is standard in terms of leaving a job early pro: location is the most ideal for me 5 min from where I live and would avoid a long commute (with tolls) where all the other hospitals are around me…
Moderator EMEDPA Posted July 4 Moderator Share Posted July 4 a few red flags: "training pay" is not a thing at real jobs. must give 120 day notice before leaving , if not $500 per day short - if do not complete training, owe $20,000. - if leave before 1 year $15,000 - if leave before 2 years $7,500 This is all BS. 1
SedRate
I would decline and not look back. 14 hours ago, hak00100 said: potential red flags… Not potential -- these are some serious major red flags. 14 hours ago, hak00100 said: must give 120 day notice before leaving , if not $500 per day short 120 days is pretty long. Anywhere from a few weeks for a short term job to 60 days notice is typically sufficient. Five hundred dollars per days sounds like they're trying to bank on you leaving (literally) or scare you into staying. Either way is not a good sign. 14 hours ago, hak00100 said: would accepting this be screwing myself over? Yes. 14 hours ago, hak00100 said: Brutally honest as I don’t know what is standard in terms of leaving a job early Owing money for leaving is not standard and is arguably unethical. Please note that giving back money from a signing bonus may be a part of some contracts. 15 hours ago, hak00100 said: $115,000 for first 6 months training Huh? So they're paying you $115,000 for the first six months? Or do you mean at a salaried rate, so actually $57,500? 1
