Top 5: Advice for Incoming PA Students

1. Be confident in your process. There are so many students that go into PA school and want to try new ways to process information that they haven't ever tried before -- this is bad practice. You made it to PA school with a solid method of studying/practice testing/reviewing information, and for the most part it will be a good platform to build on. Many students will try many different methods, many will try to convince you that theirs is the best, but largely most everyone feels lost in the process of trying to learn all of the information hurled at you. Do what has worked for you until it doesn't and then try something else.

2. Comparison is the thief of comfort and joy. Do not compare class ranks/grades/study methods/friends groups to your classmates, it will create an unhealthy precedent for you.

3. Free counseling if your program offers it to you. PA school is stressful, you need to use all the tools in your arsenal to help you manage that stress.

4. Lean on your faculty. You only get as much out of that relationship as you put into it. They can be a great resource to you, if you let them.

5. You are a student, but your life is not all about being a student. Explore your surrounding area, find new hobbies, and join local clubs. This is the stuff that will keep you sane!
