Awbrodjr
Hi everybody, I noted through various websites that the median salary for cardiothoracic surgery PA is near 115k. I am assuming this number is for an experience PA with some years of practice under his belt. I am very interested in pursuing a surgical residency (possibly cardio or ortho). I would like to know if anyone could help me figure out what the salary may be coming straight out of Ortho surg or cardio surg residency for a PA. I realize region and work setting will also factor into salary, so if you could attest to those factors as well, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much! RuralER/Ortho
Are you in school? Have you done an ortho or CT surg rotation? They are very different specialties.
Awbrodjr
I'm not in school as of yet. Just really interested in pursuing something with surgery and would like to know if you or anyone else has some experience with the current salaries of a surg PA (particularly in those specialties) who has just graduated from residency and starting his/her career. pa_app229
I would just focus on either getting into a pa program, or enjoying your time off before entering one. Peoples opinions change all the time as they progress through their programs. Plus the job outlook, salary, residencies, etc. could change from now and when you begin looking for jobs. Just my 2 cents. If you want information on salary, the AAPA releases a salary report every year you can purchase online. It breaks salaries down by region, specialty, years of experience, etc.
Awbrodjr
Thanks for your two cents! I completely agree my perspective could change. I may look into that source.
