aubrey18
Hey Guys! So I want to get my certification as an EMT. I am looking into classes that are also going to be going on during my fall semester at college. Has anyone ever done this? Is it doable to take part in the class while I am in school? Or is it better to wait until the summer time? If anyone has any advice, it would be helpful!
fishbum
As long as it meshes with the rest of your schedule and life's obligations, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to take it in the fall. If you're used to pre-PA science courses, you shouldn't find EMT training very challenging academically. You might need to be flexible when scheduling any clinical/ride-along time if your program offers it, but even those requirements are generally pretty minimal. spflynn4
I echo what Doug said. I took my EMT class while I was I'm school full time, and it wasn't THAT bad. The material in the EMT course isn't at the same level as other pre-PA courses.
DiggySRNA
I took mine during the summer while taking 2 undergrad courses. It was highly doable. Just keep up with the readings and you should be fine. That said, know your limitations if you choose to complete it during regular semesters and if you're also working.
MyNameWasUsed
Definitely doable. However there are some accelerated summer courses. I did a 28 day course at CIEMT and it was pretty efficient.
edoll
VERY doable. I took an EMT course at night and found it pretty darn easy especially after taking other PA school prereqs.
