sdrisc
I will be starting PA school in a couple days. Does anyone have any suggestions of helpful apps for PA school (for didactic year, clinical year, or PANCE prep)?
cdcd67
Medscape is awesome. That was the main app I used. You don't need Wifi for it either.

Administrator rev ronin Posted September 2, 2013 Administrator Share Posted September 2, 2013 Medscape is so good I never paid a dime for Skyscape or Epocrates, just installed their 'free' stuff and barely used it.
Joelseff
+1 for medscape. I still use it. Had a paid sub to epocrates that I didn't renew because you get pretty much all of it on medscape. I don't see a benefit in paying for epocrates. Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
marktheshark89
If you have an ipad and want to use it to take notes on, notability is awesome.
TrevInTampa813
I got Epocrates at the suggestion of the PA i was shadowing, but several doctors i talked to suggested Medscape so i got them both. Also, a current student told me to pick up the free versions of "Instant ECG" and "Heart Murmur Pro"
Jene
I LOVE iannotate. It opens ppt or word files and converts them to PDFs that you can write, type, highlight on, etc. I highly prefer it to notability, and so do my fellow classmates who started with notability. Also get Dropbox. I use the kindle app and either buy or rent ebooks instead of paper books. Also get a good calendar or to do app to keep track of all of your classes and exams, etc. good luck!! PYRITE
The figure1 app (free) is fun to look at. I've found Epocrates and Medscape helpful. I prefer the phone version of the Sanford guide to the printed version. Quizlet is good for flashcards. Inkling is very good for textbooks on the IPAD. generalfluff
Big thanks by the way to the recommendations for Medscape. It's very concise, and handily arranges info that I need, such as most commons, drug interactions, and a lot of well-written material. I've gotten Medscape downloaded so it can work without an internet connection, and all the text shows, but the pictures do not. Any tips if I did something wrong, or if it's really just supposed to be this way. The figures would be great to have for anatomy.
Administrator rev ronin Posted September 9, 2013 Administrator Share Posted September 9, 2013 No, you really can't get Medscape to download the media content, just the full text. You're not doing anything wrong.

peaceloveandPA
diagnosaurus, AHRQ ePSS, prognosis Prognosis is fun. I still play that when I'm bored at work.... I also use "Sanford guide" for antibiotics. It's not free, but really helpful in ur clinical year. Let food be thy medicine
cinntsp
I've primarily been using Epocrates and MPR. I just installed PEPID yesterday and will give it a whirl on this next rotation.
